Know the right skincare for you

Hello beautiful folks, lets talk about skin. I’m talking my skin, your skin, his skin, her skin. The beautiful stuff that covers your muscles and bones that comes in thousands of shades. Healthy skin is key to a flawless makeup application. Also, taking care of your skin can sometimes be a rewarding task. Looking younger is the goal for all of us. I mean just think, wouldn’t being mistaken for a toddler be the best day of the year. In order to become a diaper dandy that is trying out for the latest Gerber commercial, you must first understand your skin type and what products compliment it the best.

Now I’m normal to combo skin. It’s good to know that as we check a different age boxes on the survey our skin type sometimes can change. Me personally I have gone from super oily/acne prone skin to normal/combo. Also the right products and eating healthy can correct parts of your skin type like less breakouts, less oil, and even less dryness. These are a few items that I have realized are important to know and stick to based on skin type. Products don’t have to be expensive to be of great quality. But, when it comes to beauty products, 1/2 of you budget should go to your skincare.

When it comes to cleaners, not anything will do. Some cleansers may be wonderful for some but not for other. Ya girl Becky, you know the one with the good hair loll, may love a foam cleanser but for your dry skin, it makes your face feel super tight and flaky.  There are things to look for like consistency, color, texture, etc. Like for sensitive skin you don’t want a harsh exfoliate. Instead chose a gentle one that you can use at night. These are some suggestions to check out. Also I strongly believe in the traditional Asian method of a double cleanse. This is when you do a first cleanse to break down makeup and built up oil and then a second cleanse to deep clean pores and get off any dead skin cells off the skin to really give your skin a great surface to absorb the rest of your skincare steps.

CLEANSERS

Oily skin: foam cleansers and  weekly exfoliates

Foam cleansers get really down into pores and lift the excess oils. Exfoliates helps with cleaning blackheads and getting off dead skin that sticks to the oil.

Dry skin: Milky and cream cleansers. Also gentle exfoliates when needed.

Milky and cream cleansers cleans the skin without stripping the skin of the little moisture that it has. If also adds moisture to the skin.

Acne prone skin: Gentle cleanser as not to aggravate skin.

Gentle gel cleansers help clean the skin without aggravating the skin which could cause more breakouts.

TONERS

Oily skin: matifying toner

Normally have a talc powder in the liquid that helps mattify the skin.

Dry skin: hydrating toner

Helps balance the skin and add some moisture to it.

Acne prone skin: toner with acne treatment medication.

Helps manage breakouts. either with some type of acne treatment medication added. I use one with salicylic acid to keep my breakouts at bay and to bring my skin back to PH balance.

MOISTURIZERS

Oily: Gel moisturizers.

Soak into the skin quickly to prevent excess oil production. Your body won’t prevent more oil if there is already enough present.

Dry: cream moisturizer.

Sits on skin surface and skin drinks it in when needed throughout the day.

Acne: treatment moisturizer.

To prevent more breakouts or the feeling of uncomfortable skin. Has a soothing effect to the skin.

When it comes to what your skin prefers, it’s all about trial and error. Be patient with your skin. Give a product a fair shot. It takes about 6 weeks to tell if a product is working. Don’t over do it with switching up too quickly, cause you can forget what works and what doesn’t. If need be, make a list of pros and cons and then compare (this is how I figure out what I like and if I don’t like, who to pass it on to).  The sooner you figure it out, the better for your skin, wallet, and piece of mind. Buying everything your best friend or favorite YouTube beauty guru loves can be pricey. It is however a good way to research products that you wouldn’t know about otherwise. Try samples from Sephora or monthly beauty subscription boxes. Also share with your friends products that didn’t work for you and they will do the same. Like swap parties. We all have that one drawer of products that were a no no. I bet we all could buy a vacation with that drawer alone. Share with someone else. You know what they say one man’s trash….. I’ll say one folks no could be another folks heck yes!!!

I hope this helped guide you all in the right direction because that skincare isle can make you dizzy, dazed, and confused

Thank you all for stopping by. Don’t forget to like, comment, and subscribe.

Smooches,
