Know the right skincare for you

Hello beautiful folks, lets talk about skin. I’m talking my skin, your skin, his skin, her skin. The beautiful stuff that covers your muscles and bones that comes in thousands of shades. Healthy skin is key to a flawless makeup application. Also, taking care of your skin can sometimes be a rewarding task. Looking younger is the goal for all of us. I mean just think, wouldn’t being mistaken for a toddler be the best day of the year. In order to become a diaper dandy that is trying out for the latest Gerber commercial, you must first understand your skin type and what products compliment it the best.

Now I’m normal to combo skin. It’s good to know that as we check a different age boxes on the survey our skin type sometimes can change. Me personally I have gone from super oily/acne prone skin to normal/combo. Also the right products and eating healthy can correct parts of your skin type like less breakouts, less oil, and even less dryness. These are a few items that I have realized are important to know and stick to based on skin type. Products don’t have to be expensive to be of great quality. But, when it comes to beauty products, 1/2 of you budget should go to your skincare.

When it comes to cleaners, not anything will do. Some cleansers may be wonderful for some but not for other. Ya girl Becky, you know the one with the good hair loll, may love a foam cleanser but for your dry skin, it makes your face feel super tight and flaky.  There are things to look for like consistency, color, texture, etc. Like for sensitive skin you don’t want a harsh exfoliate. Instead chose a gentle one that you can use at night. These are some suggestions to check out. Also I strongly believe in the traditional Asian method of a double cleanse. This is when you do a first cleanse to break down makeup and built up oil and then a second cleanse to deep clean pores and get off any dead skin cells off the skin to really give your skin a great surface to absorb the rest of your skincare steps.

CLEANSERS

Oily skin: foam cleansers and  weekly exfoliates

Foam cleansers get really down into pores and lift the excess oils. Exfoliates helps with cleaning blackheads and getting off dead skin that sticks to the oil.

Dry skin: Milky and cream cleansers. Also gentle exfoliates when needed.

Milky and cream cleansers cleans the skin without stripping the skin of the little moisture that it has. If also adds moisture to the skin.

Acne prone skin: Gentle cleanser as not to aggravate skin.

Gentle gel cleansers help clean the skin without aggravating the skin which could cause more breakouts.

TONERS

Oily skin: matifying toner

Normally have a talc powder in the liquid that helps mattify the skin.

Dry skin: hydrating toner

Helps balance the skin and add some moisture to it.

Acne prone skin: toner with acne treatment medication.

Helps manage breakouts. either with some type of acne treatment medication added. I use one with salicylic acid to keep my breakouts at bay and to bring my skin back to PH balance.

MOISTURIZERS

Oily: Gel moisturizers.

Soak into the skin quickly to prevent excess oil production. Your body won’t prevent more oil if there is already enough present.

Dry: cream moisturizer.

Sits on skin surface and skin drinks it in when needed throughout the day.

Acne: treatment moisturizer.

To prevent more breakouts or the feeling of uncomfortable skin. Has a soothing effect to the skin.

When it comes to what your skin prefers, it’s all about trial and error. Be patient with your skin. Give a product a fair shot. It takes about 6 weeks to tell if a product is working. Don’t over do it with switching up too quickly, cause you can forget what works and what doesn’t. If need be, make a list of pros and cons and then compare (this is how I figure out what I like and if I don’t like, who to pass it on to).  The sooner you figure it out, the better for your skin, wallet, and piece of mind. Buying everything your best friend or favorite YouTube beauty guru loves can be pricey. It is however a good way to research products that you wouldn’t know about otherwise. Try samples from Sephora or monthly beauty subscription boxes. Also share with your friends products that didn’t work for you and they will do the same. Like swap parties. We all have that one drawer of products that were a no no. I bet we all could buy a vacation with that drawer alone. Share with someone else. You know what they say one man’s trash….. I’ll say one folks no could be another folks heck yes!!!

I hope this helped guide you all in the right direction because that skincare isle can make you dizzy, dazed, and confused

Thank you all for stopping by. Don’t forget to like, comment, and subscribe.

Products I’ve used up Pt 4

Hello folks!!!! I have been gone for a really long time so the best way I know to come back is to show you products I have used up. My goal this summer was to use up all the half empty items I have in my stash. I wanted to get through a lot of stuff cause there’s no point in having tons of half used products crammed in drawers. and rankly it’s just a waste of money. Also it helps me to not buy more of the same things. So I put mot of the products in categories because I use a lot of the same things just different brands. Now warning: I have a ton of goodies so lets get started.

CLEANSERS

Equate daily face wash Olay 4-in-1 facial cloths Olay total effects 7 in one
Equate daily face wash
Olay 4-in-1 facial cloths
Olay total effects 7 in one

I enjoyed all of these cleansers. The equate daily cleanser is compared to clearasil daily cleanser and it is one of my favorite cleansers. the Olay facial wipes are perfect for travel. I can’t travel without them, the top box is combo/oily and the bottom box is sensitive skin. They fit perfectly in a sandwich bags and no worry about spilling. The Olay total effects has light exfoliating beads that I loved for everyday use. Not abrasive at all. Also doesn’t foam, which takes some getting use to, but your skin doesn’t feel stripped or tight after washing. I would repurchase all of these again. All of these cleansers except for the sensitive skin has salicylic acid in them which is great for blemish control.

TONERS

Mary kay Blemish control toner Lancome tonique Pure Focus H2O Marie toner
Mary kay Blemish control toner
Lancome tonique Pure Focus
H2O Marine toner

I have been repurchasing the Mary Kay toner since I was in high school, which was a long time ago. It helps clear and prevent blemishes. The Lancome pure focus is perfect for controlling oil. It has a mattifying power at the bottom of the bottle that helps you stay matte and keeps your oils at bay. The H2O toner was just okay. Nothing special. It has sea salt in it which helps keep pores tight.

MOISTURIZERS

Lancome Bienfait nigh Lancome Beinfait aqua Vital Boots shine control lotion mary Kay timewise Clinique Moisture surge
Lancome Bienfait night
Lancome Beinfait aqua Vital
Boots shine control lotion
mary Kay timewise
Clinique Moisture surge

I’ve learned a while ago that gel moisturizers are best for combo/oily skin during the day. I enjoy cream cleansers at night so that they really do the job while I sleep. I don’t need all that work during the day because I will turn into an oily mess. The beinfait night creams are my favorite night time moisturizer. They have the perfect amount of moisture and I wake up with baby soft skin. The beinfait aqua vital is a gel moisturizer for the day. It smells amazing and it’s my holy grail moisturizer. I didn’t like the boots shine control lotion because it didn’t control my shine or give me enough moisture. Even though I have combo skin, I still want the proper amount of moisture so to privent my skin from creating unwanted oil throughout the day and leaving me a greasy mess. I used to use the Mary Kay time wise moisturizer in high school and it did okay, so I thought, so I decided to give it another try. Now that I know more about skincare, I’ve realized that this moisturizer isn’t for my skin. It leaves a film on my skin that causes me to get oily fast. No Ma’am!!!!! I also love the cinique moisture sure. It’s the same concept as the Lancome aqua vital both are gel moisturizers. WIN WIN

EYE TREATMENT

lancome Absolu Yeux Lancome High Resolution eye
lancome Absolu Yeux
Lancome High Resolution eye

these two together are a match made in under eye heaven. Absolu yeux is an eye serum that restores the thin skin under the eye. It has no moisture, just concentrated treatment. I then add the high resolution eye cream on top which seals in the serum and leaves the under eye glowing and soft. I would love to repurchase the absolu jeux but it is very expensive. I’ll definitely be saving up for another one though.

FACE SERUMS

Altchek MD Night treatment Lancome Visionnaire
Altchek MD Night treatment
Lancome Visionnaire

The Altchek night serum and the Lancome visionnaire claim to do the same thing, even skin tone, lighten darkspots, demise the appearance of pores. The Visionnaire really showed a difference in my skin. It has great anti aging properties in it and gives my skin a really healthy look. The Altchek serum took longer to show a less expressive difference. Not my favorite.

BODY MOISTURIZERS

OgX hydrating argan oil of morocco lotion Vaseline spray and go
OgX hydrating argan oil of morocco lotion
Vaseline spray and go

I love the argan oil moisturizer. It smells amazing and leaves me moisturized a lllllll day (the body wash is also amazing). I lave the spray and go to moisturize my back because only an elegant can reach their back and even they have a bit of a struggle. lol

BODY WASH

Yardley London body wash in honey almond and levander rosemary
Yardley London body wash in honey almond and lavender rosemary

This is my holy grail body wash!!!!! The honey almond is a cream wash and the lavender rosemary is a gel wash. I got the rosemary because the honey almond is hard to find around my way. They have other scents. My absolute favorite is mango lily but I can’t find it anywhere in my area, I did order some on riteaid.com (yup sure did). I did find the sea salt one that I want to try next.

MINI MOISTURIZERS

Nivea creme Nivdea Soft
Nivea creme
Nivdea Soft

I love these to have in my purse. They both are great to have to moisturize throughout the day.

FOUNDATION

Loreal Magic Smooth Soufle in classic tan
Loreal Magic Smooth Soufle in classic tan

I’ve had this foundation for ever!!! It was discontinued a few years ago but I would still find them on ebay. This is a really mice foundation. It has a whipped consistence with a powder feeling finish. I’m guessing that they were competing with the revlon color stay whipped. they should have kept this one on the shelf a little longer.

CONCEALER

delf Concealer in beige
delf Concealer in beige

This has been in sooooo many of my posts from favorites to empties. i absolutely love this conceler for face highlighting. It’s amazing and i use it all the time. I’m working on one now and have two more in my backups.

Lancome Grandiose
Lancome oscillation

All of these mascaras are in black exept for the firs one. The FYEO, for your eyes only, is in the color royal blue. This is a really nice mascara for a pop of color on the lash. It is cruelty free. The clinique high impact is a really nice mascara that I will repurchase. I didn’t like the primer side of it. the clinique bottom lash mascara has a tiny brush which is perfect for my tiny bottom lashes and outer corner lashes and keeps the mess minimal. Estee Lauder double wear zero smudge mascara….. I HATED IT!!!! It made my lashes crunchy, hard, brittle, dry. And it took all the kings horses and all the kings men to get it off and I still had raccoon eyes in the morning!!!! I have never disliked a product so much. I couldn’t even finish it. Now Lancome grandiose is my holy grail mascara. They make my short straight lashes look like falsies!!! Amazing formula, doesn’t smudge and easy to remove at night. The Lancome Oscillation is another one of my holy grails. the wand vibrates allowing you to coat every lash even if you didn’t know it existed.

BROWS

Elf clear brow gel lancome es Sourils definis Brow Expert in Auburn It Cosmetics Your brows but better in universal taupe
Elf clear brow gel
lancome es Sourils definis Brow Expert in Auburn
It Cosmetics Your brows but better in universal taupe

I like the elf brow gel. keeps my brow hairs in place. The Lancome brow pencil is the best I have ever used. The formula is very smooth and stays all day without fading. The It Cosmetics YBBB is an amazing pencil as well. very easy to use and the taupe color matches all brow colors.

FACIAL SPRAYS

Evian Facial Spray Mac Fix+
Evian Facial Spray
Mac Fix+

I like the evian facial spray to use before I tone my face. It takes away the tightness in the skin after washing. It’s also nice for when you are out in the sun and need a little cool down. Mac fix+ is my holy frail. It has glycerin in it which keeps makeup for looking cakey. I also love it to give my foundation a glowing finish, to foil and help my shadows and pigments pop. This product is multi use and I can’t live without it.

Well folks that’s all my empties for now. Thank you all for stopping by and peeking into my trash. Any questions please comment bellow and don’t forget to share, like, and subscribe
