Hello gorgeous beauty junkies. Today I want to talk about my favorite brushes. I talk lot about my favorite products but never seem to get to what I love to apply them with. I use beauty tools as much as possible because since I am acne prone, I don’t like applying makeup with my hands. Now, some people prefer to use their hands, but I’m not one of them. I will apply most of my skincare with my hands but I will use a beauty spatula to get products out of jar packages to not contaminate it. Now I am a beauty brat so I have two favorites for each area so that I have a back up when the others are getting cleaned. My favorite brand brushes are the ELF black professional line and Lancôme. Two totally different ends of the price spectrum (lancome brushes are mostly natural hair brushes). Other great brands I enjoy are ecotools, real technique, and random no names from ebay. If it’s a good brush, it’s coming home with me loll. So lets jump right in with no specific order shall we.
For liquid foundation there is only one brush that fits the bill for me right not. That is the ELF flat top powder brush ($4). This has been my holy grail brush for liquid foundation for years!! I actually own 4 of this exact brush for back up. Now if I want to switch it up, I will go to a beauty sponge from real technique or earth therapeutics. It is a dense brush which makes buffing foundation into the skin a breeze. It’s even great for buffing primer into the skin as well. The price is unbeatable so why not. I even share the love with this one. Roz boog ( my mom) even has a few.
For eye shadow I love a good crease brush and a lid brush. For the crease I love the Lancôme blending shadow #17 (29.50). Now this brush is expensive but it blends out shadow effortlessly. It is super soft and the long natural hairs makes it easy to bland out any harsh lines. An alternate brush for me is the Luxie 227 blending brush ($12). This one is a little shorter hair but is just as easy as the lancome #17. For the lid I use the ELF “C” brush ($3) which is the perfect size to quickly get color on the lid. Another great one is the Wet n Wild large shadow brush ($1). They are almost the exact same brush.
I haven’t really been into the blush lately. Now don’t get me wrong I love a good rouge on the cheeks (lol mom) but I’ve just been going for the bronzy glow you can see from the international space station look. But when I do hit the cheeks with a little something, I love the ELF complexion brush ($4). It’s a beautiful big soft brush that deposits just the right amount of color. My other favorite is the same shape but a little smaller is the ecotools powder brush ($7.99).
For under eye concealer, if I don’t use a sponge, I like the Lancôme duel ended foundation and complextion brush #26 ($47). This brush is the perfect size to blend out concealer under the eye with the lager side and the smaller side is great for the inner corner of the eye.
To set my under eye I go with the ELF blush brush ($3). I’m not sure why they categorize this brush as a blush brush because it is tiny. Maybe a blush brush for a doll. But it’s great to set the under eye with. The brush is so soft and perfect for that delicate area. Another great one is the Lancôme cheek and contour #25 ($40). Again I don’t know why they would consider this as a cheek brush either but I digress. This brush is great because it is two sided and the smaller side can be used in the inner corner of the eye to set that are. I like the inner corner set well because my eyes sometime water.
For all over face powder, I love a giant soft brush to set my face with a light layer of powder. For this I love my Lancôme powder brush #1 ($48) or the real techniques powder brush ($9.99, sorry no pic cause mom kinda borrowed it and never gave it back js). They both are super soft and so easy to use. Evenly distributes powder without looking cakey.
For bronzer I have been obsessed with the Flower beauty powder brush ($15). It is the perfect size for an easy natural bronzer on the face. Another great one is the Lancôme cheek brush #6 ($43) which is great and more structured shape for contouring as well as bronzing.
Now last but definitely not least, my favorite part of makeup (right now). HIGHLIGHT!!!!! I get my best brushes for highlight on ebay. I mostly like to use fan brushes of almost any size. They are cheap and easy to replace if it’s not the one you like. I’ve found duplicates of expensive Nars brushes and even some natural hair brushes for no more than $5. If you are looking for something specific like a certain shape brush, I think ebay is always a good place to look.
